Ormeau and Dromore decisions point way
Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams speaking in Dublin today said:
``Easter Monday is the beginning of the Orange marching season. Sinn Féin welcomes the decision by the Apprentice boys not to try to march over the Ormeau Bridge and the agreement arrived at in Dromore.
``I believe these are positive developments which could be the basis on which future controversial Orange Marches are resolved.
``The political effects of last years Orange triumphalism were felt throughout Ireland and beyond. This message is not lost on the unionist leaderships. They have to face up to the need to talk. Sinn Féin's approach is based on the primacy of dialogue. The need for equality of treatment should underpin any effort to resolve contentious parades. Equality demands change.
``We are also confident at this early stage in the election campaign that Sinn Féin's vote will hold up on May 1st. All our candidates are active in their constituencies and canvass returns indicate that our party will perform very strongly indeed.''
